A classifier is a sorting device which is used to separate the fines from the coarse fractions so as to get the exact particle size and the right particle size distribution during the mineral processing stage. The air classifier is adapted to the process for the dry separation of particles according to the settling rate. The particle collectives to be separated are introduced into the air flow, with two main forces acting on the particles: a mass force (gravity, inertia, centrifugal force) and a drag force (drag force of the fluid). Due to the magnitude and direction of these forces, the particles move along different trajectories that depend on their rate of descent and can thus be captured separately when they leave classifying zone.
